Our team is big enough to handle projects of any scope & size, yet small enough to be responsive, personable, and accountable.

Doug Bedard

CEO- PSL

As a graduate of the University of Saskatchewan in an Agricultural Business discipline, Doug has over 12 years of agricultural, oil field construction and land experience. He has a breadth of project management practice, and is directly involved in our day to day business with the management team. Doug’s amiable, personable, and down to earth character make him a trusted leader of our organization. When not in the office leading the team, he can be found on his acreage with his two kids riding dirt bikes, trap shooting, or doing other cool things farmers do. A big proponent of family and fun, Doug’s values largely reflect our culture at Canada West Land.

Jarvis Nicoll

President- P. Ag, PSL

Jarvis has over 11 years of experience in land and agriculture, and is a graduate of the University of Alberta. His experience, hard work, and often funny (ish) jokes have forged a reliable reputation within the CWL culture and throughout the industry. A longtime member of the Entrepreneurs Organization (EO) and a mentor to young entrepreneurs, Jarvis brings a strong business acumen that is the driving force of CWL. His constant hustle has helped CWL grow into the successful entity it is today, and his focus on building sound relationships with clients is a testament to our core values.

Mark Cooper

Vice President, Operations

Mark is a hunter. Literally, he hunts wild animals. He has a breadth of outdoor knowledge leading and guiding teams as a past Vice President of the Alberta Professional Outfitters Association, and as such it’s no wonder his dependability as a team leader makes him an asset to CWL. He has 12 years experience in surface land in both Oil and Gas and Transmission and Distribution in the Utilities sector. Mark is a strong project manager with an aptitude for using technology to manage projects. Growing up on a farm he developed a love for the outdoors, and is currently chairman of the board for Blue Bronna Wilderness Camp. Mark is IAP2 trained, and a member of IAP2, IAF, and IRWA. All of these experiences have provided Mark with a good understanding of issues faced in the field.

Our team is our biggest asset.

Annette Block

Division Manager, British Columbia

Annette has 20 years’ experience in the Oil and Gas Industry, with a specialized understanding of all things regulatory. She spent 5 years in reclamation, forestry and environment, and a further 12 years at the British Columbia Oil & Gas Commission (BCOGC) in a variety of roles which included Geophysical Program Manager, Senior Aboriginal Program Specialist, and Operations Manager. It is this experience that is the foundation of her understanding of the Oil and Gas industry in the province of BC, and that make her such an asset to our team.

Chris Ellis

Utilizing a Business Degree in Petroleum Land Management from the Haskayne School of Business, Chris has gained over 10 Years of experience in Land Negotiations, Contracts and Acquisitions and Divestitures. Having worked for both producers and service companies, Chris understands the challenges of both and as such his services incorporate a need for strong relationships and project communication. An energetic character, Chris brings an enthusiasm and care for teammates, clients, and friends that is paramount to CWL. Plus he brings Monroe, his french bulldog, to the office from time to time which provides contagious smiling (and a bit of slobber) all around.
